Birthing Beautiful Communities
Birthing Beautiful Communities provides perinatal Doula support services to moms free of charge. Birth specialists pair expectant mothers with a Doula to prepare her for pregnancy and postpartum, extending care through the first year of life. The organization also provides education and social support through a culturally-centered model and is focused on transforming into a whole-health institute for Black women.

Powered by Northeast Ohio Neighborhood Health Services (NEON)
NEON is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) network of community health centers dedicated to improving access to health care and reducing health disparities in Greater Cleveland. Moms & Babies First Ohio’s Black Infant Vitality Program is a public health initiative to reduce infant mortality in African American women. The goal of the Ohio Infant Mortality Reduction Initiative (OIMRI) is to improve birth outcomes in at-risk African American communities within Cuyahoga County and its inner-ring suburbs through a community health worker model.
Moms First
Powered by Cleveland Department of Health
MomsFirst is a home visitation program that provides health education and support for pregnant women/teens living in the City of Cleveland. Participants are served until the child turns 18 months old. They also have a Fatherhood component serving fathers/partners of women in the program. In addition, they administer a maternal mortality reduction initiative by providing CenteringPregnancy®, pregnancy support and wrap-around services to those pregnant women incarcerated in the County Jail.
Neighborhood Leadership Institute
Neighborhood Leadership Institute is a community engagement organization that connects residents with each other through empowering programs and resources. Their focus areas include, but are not limited to, neighborhood leadership, mentorship, youth engagement, and community health.
Nurse-Family Partnership
Powered by the MetroHealth System
The MetroHealth System is Cuyahoga County’s public hospital system, providing care to all regardless of ability to pay. Obstetric and pediatric services are provided at health centers across the city and county. MetroHealth’s Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) Program offers nurse home visits to low-income women pregnant with their first child and follows the family until the child is two years of age. The focus is on improving pregnancy outcomes, child health and development, and family self-sufficiency.
In addition, MetroHealth offers CenteringPregnancy® classes, Boot Camp for New Dads, and specialized care for pregnant women with substance use disorder.
Our Wellness Network (OWN)
In 2020, the PAIL Society launched Our Wellness Network (OWN), which provides free healing resources from Black licensed therapists and healing specialists. Those who have experienced any struggle or loss, including anxiety or depression, miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss can now receive serviceUniversity Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center provides midwifery services to expectant mothers across the Greater Cleveland area. University Hospitals’ certified midwives work closely with mothers and their healthcare providers to compassionately guide them through pregnancy and postpartum care.
Services that allow them to grieve and heal—completely free of charge.
Pregnant with Possibilities
Founded in 2015, Pregnant with Possibilities Resource Center provides culturally-competent sexual education to youth, increases positive birth outcomes for women, and empowers all with goal-setting and family planning strategies. Their vision focuses on increasing positive outcomes for teens, babies, and expecting and parenting young women.
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Society (PAIL)
In 2018, Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PAIL) Society was formed to aid Black families who have experienced a miscarriage or the loss of a child before their first year. Today, the PAIL Society is a thriving network of community leaders, government agencies, health care providers, mental health professionals, faith-based institutions, and nonprofit organizations.
Project Milk Mission
Project Milk Mission provides culturally aware breastfeeding education, support and resources. Their breastfeeding program for new and expecting moms includes online breastfeeding classes and virtual one-on-one lactation consultations via telehealth platform. Additionally, they provide evidence-based breastfeeding education training to Community Health Workers and Care Coordinators that will help to support Black mothers during their breastfeeding journey.
The Centers for Families & Children
The Centers for Families & Children is a non-profit social service center serving pregnant people, children and adults. The Centers provide programming for mental and physical health, early learning, workforce & wallet learning, behavioral health, and medical services.
University Hospitals
University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center provides midwifery services to expectant mothers across the Greater Cleveland area. University Hospitals’ certified midwives work closely with mothers and their health care providers to compassionately guide them through pregnancy and postpartum care.
Village of Healing
Village of Healing is a community development organization with a mission to end racial disparities by providing an environment of healing. Their current offerings include: mother-to-mother programs, professional gatherings for Black women, CenteringPregnancy®, and a women’s health clinic.
